Two different printing type of case maker / carton making machine, top printing type and bottom printing type.

Top printing type is printing patterns at the top surface of cardboard, so the slotting and die cutting will cut from bottom surface of cardboard to protect the printing surface. And the folding will be bottom folding.

Bottom printing type is printing patterns at the bottom surface of cardboard, so the slotting and die cutting will cut from the top surface of cardboard to protect the printing surface. And the folding will be top folding.

The function of the two type carton machines are very similar, both of them can make cartons automatic. 

But there are also differences between the two types of machines. The bottom printing type machine has bigger machine size and higher technical requirements, so for sure, the bottom printing type machine is expensiver than top printing machine.

Below are the advantages of bottom printing type carton machine.

1. For Feeder unit -- there maybe some dusty on the top surface of cardboard, and the bottom surface will be more cleaner.

2. For Printer unit -- printing on the bottom surface means the printing plate and anilox roller are at the bottom side of cardboard, so the gravity will make layout of ink be better.

3. For Slotter unit -- bottom printing means cutting from internal side of the box, this will make the cutting shape more beautiful then cutting for external side, so

* bottom printing - the zigzag cutting shape is at box internal

* top printing - the zigzag cutting shape is at box external

4. For Die-cutter unit -- the cutting die roller is at top side of cardboard, so the waste paper which in the cutting die can drop off better because of the gravity

5. For Folder Gluer Count Ejector -- the design of folder gluer is twice staking and twice squaring, so both of bottom printing and top printing type machine can have good box shape, as below picture.
